The Painting Project Programme promotes
painting in its varied manifestations as a fundamental form of artistic
expression. Instruction, practice, and awareness of historical and contemporary
context are brought together to enable students to think critically and
imaginatively, and to express their ideas with skill and conviction. The
principal component of the Painting Project Programme is rigorous studio
activity. Critical dialogue and rigorous expectations about studio practice
support work toward a fully formed artistic vision.
The main
structure of the Painting Project Programme
We are in the last year and every student's artistic
process is unique, and therefore the programme is to a great extent based on the
individual. It is based on the students’ own artistic practices, and students
are largely responsible for their own studies, which are designed in
consultation with a supervising professor. Supervision is based primarily on
work done in the studio and workshop and on studio talks and regular group
meetings. Supervision also takes the form of group critique, presentations and
workshops. The aims of the education are for the students to develop their own
artistic expression and find ways of using and putting into practice the
knowledge they gain in their own artistry. During the last year of study, there
is the most important progression of the students' artistic work.
Individual
artistic work.
Individual artistic work includes many different elements
in the programme which students need in order that they can realise their
artistic projects, develop their artistry and work independently in
professional life.
Introduction
– Personal Project
The program begins with a short writting work called Personal
Project, where the students explain their own artistic expression worked before
and the different ways of artistic practices.
Work in
the studio and workshops
The central part of the course is the independent work
carried out by the students in the studio and workshops. All students have a big
studio space during the whole programme. The studio visits are made by the
supervising professor,
Professor
supervision.
The supervising professor supports the student’s
individual artistic development and follows the student’s progression over
time. Regular supervision of the student’s artistic work in the form of talks
with the supervising professor. Active participation in these group meetings
and in the studio visits is compulsory. The professor-led groups vary in their
profile, but common to them all are different presentations of one's own work
and that of others.
Introduction
to Artistic Research and Artistic Development Work
All artistic activity is aimed at creating something new
and original, which requires a research approach. The artistic process itself
includes research-based activities which develop conceptual levels through the
artistic work, artists' materials, technical skills, history and theory
development. The Programme includes various lessons which bring these issues to
the fore. The students are given the opportunity in the form of individual
studio visits or in a group to discuss and reflect on the methods of
practice-based artistic research. The students can also take part in the Final
Degree Show which are run by the Faculty. The research environment at the Faculty
of Fine Arts is also home to PhD-students and researchers carrying out
long-term projects.
Exhibitions
Exhibitions and other forms of presentations of artistic
work are an important part of the education. The Faculty of Fine Arts organises
exhibitions at the end of the semester. All students in the last year must stage
a solo show in the Faculty of Fine Arts or other galleries or cultural spaces
in the city. During the education further opportunities are provided to exhibit
one's work in the school's exhibition premises, and exhibitions of work by
different groups of students are also organised outside the school.
Independent
Project
The Independent Project is presented in a solo-show in
the classroom during the last weeks. The Independent Project includes writing a
master essay worth. In connection to the presentations of the Independent
Artistic Work a critique discussion takes place led by the professor together
with the students group.

El Programa de Proyectos de Pintura promueve la pintura en sus diversas manifestaciones como una forma fundamental de expresión artística. La instrucción, la práctica y la conciencia del contexto histórico y contemporáneo se reúnen para que el estudiante pueda pensar de manera crítica e imaginativa, y expresar sus ideas con habilidad y convicción. El principal componente del Programa de Proyectos de Pintura es la actividad rigurosa en el estudio. El diálogo crítico y las expectativas rigurosas sobre la práctica del estudio apoyan el trabajo hacia una visión artística plenamente formada.
La estructura principal del Programa de Proyectos de Pintura.
Estamos en el último año y el proceso artístico de cada estudiante es único, por lo que el programa se basa en gran medida en el individuo. Se basa en las propias prácticas artísticas de los estudiantes, y los estudiantes son en gran medida responsables de sus propios estudios, que se diseñan en consulta con el profesor. La supervisión se basa principalmente en el trabajo realizado en el estudio y el taller y en las charlas del estudio y las reuniones de grupo regulares. La supervisión también toma la forma de crítica de grupo, presentaciones y talleres. Los objetivos de la educación son que los estudiantes desarrollen su propio proyecto artístico y encuentren formas de utilizar y poner en práctica los conocimientos que adquieren en su propio arte. Durante el último año de estudio, se produce la progresión más importante del trabajo artístico de los estudiantes.
Trabajo artístico individual.
El trabajo artístico individual incluye muchos elementos diferentes en el programa que los estudiantes necesitan para poder realizar sus proyectos artísticos, desarrollar su arte y trabajar de forma independiente en la vida profesional.
Introducción - Proyecto personal.
El programa comienza con un corto trabajo de escritura llamado Proyecto Personal, donde los estudiantes explican su propio proyecto artístico trabajado anteriormente y las diferentes formas de prácticas artísticas.
El trabajo en el estudio y los talleres.
La parte central del curso es el trabajo independiente realizado por los estudiantes en el estudio y los talleres. Todos los estudiantes tienen un gran espacio de estudio durante todo el programa. Las visitas al estudio son hechas por el profesor supervisor.
Supervisión del profesor.
El profesor supervisor apoya el desarrollo artístico individual del estudiante y sigue su progresión en el tiempo. Supervisión regular del trabajo artístico del estudiante en forma de charlas con el profesor supervisor. La participación activa en estas reuniones de grupo y en las visitas al estudio es obligatoria. Los grupos dirigidos por el profesor varían en su perfil, pero todos tienen en común la presentación diferente de su propio trabajo y el de los demás.
Introducción a la investigación artística y al trabajo de desarrollo artístico
Toda actividad artística tiene como objetivo crear algo nuevo y original, lo que requiere un enfoque de investigación. El proceso artístico en sí mismo incluye actividades basadas en la investigación que desarrollan los niveles conceptuales a través de la obra artística, los materiales de los artistas, las habilidades técnicas, la historia y el desarrollo de la teoría. El Programa incluye varias lecciones que ponen de relieve estas cuestiones. Se da a los estudiantes la oportunidad, en forma de visitas individuales al estudio o en grupo, de discutir y reflexionar sobre los métodos de investigación artística basados en la práctica. Los estudiantes también pueden participar en la Muestra de Fin de Grado, que es dirigida por la Facultad. El entorno de investigación de la Facultad de Bellas Artes es también el hogar de estudiantes de doctorado e investigadores que llevan a cabo proyectos a largo plazo.
Exposiciones.
Las exposiciones y otras formas de presentación del trabajo artístico son una parte importante de la educación. La Facultad de Bellas Artes organiza exposiciones al final del semestre. Todos los estudiantes del último año deben realizar una exposición individual en la Facultad de Bellas Artes o en otras galerías o espacios culturales de la ciudad. Durante la enseñanza se ofrecen más oportunidades de exponer su trabajo en los espacios expositivos de la Facultad, y también se organizan exposiciones de trabajos de diferentes grupos de estudiantes fuera de la Facultad.
Proyecto Personal.
El Proyecto Personal se presenta en una sola muestra en el espacio de las clases durante las últimas semanas. El Proyecto Personal incluye una memoria importante en contenido y extensión. En relación con las presentaciones de la Obra Artística Personal se realiza durante una discusión crítica dirigida por el profesor junto con el grupo de estudiantes.
